Aegean Named Top Regional Airline in Europe
Largest air carrier of Greece received two significant awards
AEGEAN was especially honored to receive the Award for Best Regional Airline in Europe for 2009, which was presented during an event celebrating Skytrax’s 10th anniversary, on April 1 in Hamburg, Germany.
The internationally acclaimed World Airline Awards are a reputable, independent institution and Skytrax is a leading international aviation industry consulting firm which annually awards the best airline companies based on millions of traveler ratings, comments, reviews and surveys. For this reason the World Airline Awards are considered the most reputable awards in the industry. The international survey conducted by SKYTRAX during the period 2008/9 involved the participation of 16.241.085 passengers of 97 different nationalities. The international survey took place over 8 months, between August 2008 and March 2009, during which time passengers chose, among many nominees, the best airline of the year, the best regional airline and other categories.
At the same time, AEGEAN’s cabin crew was named BEST CABIN CREW in Southern Europe.
Mr. Dimitris Gerogiannis, AEGEAN’s Managing Director, said in accepting the award: "All of us at AEGEAN are particularly proud that a Greek company was successful in being recognized as the best among so many acclaimed airline companies by passengers who fly to European and other destinations. These distinctions reinforce our commitment to maintaining the high standard of service that we provide but they also confirm the effectiveness of our investments in our new aircraft fleet. Our clients are the best ambassadors of our values and this is once again proven through Skytrax’s golden distinction".
