Saudi Arabia Experiences Tourism Boom

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – as per the WTO’s statement, ‘Measurement of international tourism’ - has acquired significant percentage that reached 17.8 % comparing to the total of inbound tourism in the Middle East. According to the statement,

Latest released report by World Tourism Organization (WTO) on inbound tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has declared that, in 2010, the country was tripped by 10.9 million visitors. These visitors spent US$6.8 billion in 2010.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – as per the WTO’s statement, ‘Measurement of international tourism’ - has acquired significant percentage that reached 17.8 % comparing to the total of inbound tourism in the Middle East. According to the statement,

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranks 2nd among the Arab countries and 22nd internationally. The statement also confirmed that, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked 5th in the Arab World and ranked 37th internationally in the same year regarding tourism revenues compared with its 31st rank during the year, 2009.

On most important suggestions of the international tourism movement during the first 8months of 2011, the statement confirmed that, the number of tourists during the period, from January-August, 2011, have reached 671 million all over the world, covering an expansion of 4.5% compared with the same period in 2010.

The number of international tourists during the same period has reported 69% of the total number forecasted to the end of the present year.

Between countries:-

  • Syria was the lowest reported country with -37.6% followed by Egypt with -34.7%, then Lebanon with -24.7%, Jordan with -14.1%.
  • The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reported a considerable boost of 88.3%, followed with the United Arab Emirates of 7.9% while Amman reported 12.4 % boost.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Air flights, the statement has revealed an growth of 6.3% in air passenger progress on scheduled international airlines during the period from January-September, 2011.

The tourism industry is viewed on expansion and growth for the year ahead, 2012.
