MyrtleBeach.com Providing One Stop Shopping for Lodging, Attractions and Savings

Myrtlebeach.com, the leading tourism portal for the Myrtle Beach area, recently launched a new and improved website.

The upgraded site was launched on April 8 and is the result of extensive A-B and Multivariate testing. Enhancements include a new logo and color scheme, social media integration and a mobile version for an improved user experience. The overhaul is the first step in a series of planned updates for the website.

The new site takes advantage of the proliferation of social media and mobile Internet usage. To improve user experience on the site, the main navigation has been revised and simplified. To take advantage of Myrtlebeach.com’s growing Facebook presence (now with over 75,000 Fans), the site introduced a new Facebook feed. Myrtlebeach.com also now features an improved content platform with daily blog posts from around the area containing unique and interesting things to do and see.

The mobile version of the site is automatically displayed when a visitor loads the site using a mobile web browser. The mobile site design was created to improve the user experience with simplified graphics and a robust user-interface and to capitalize on the 300% increase in traffic from mobile devices in the first quarter of 2011. Future upgrades in the works include integrated mapping functionality to assist visitors in navigating the Myrtle Beach area.

The new site was designed and programmed by Internet marketing firm Fuel Interactive.

“We are excited about the new website. These upgrades are the first of a series of new features that we plan to launch in 2011,” said Stuart Butler, chief operating officer at Fuel Interactive, the firm responsible for the site upgrades. “The idea is to get information about how Myrtle Beach visitors can stay, play and save in a very user-friendly way. The website is rich with hotel deals, information on attractions and events. We want MyrtleBeach.com to be the one-stop shopping location for Myrtle Beach vacationers.”

Since the beginning of 2011, traffic to the site has increased 27% over the previous year. The recent changes are aimed at maintaining MyrtleBeach.com’s position as the leading online resource for the Myrtle Beach area.
