Hotwire Reveals Hotel Rate Report for July 2010

Oklahoma's Largest City, Tulsa, Premieres on the List at Number One

Hotwire.com®, a leading discount travel site, announced the results of the July 2010 Hotwire® Hotel Rate Report. This monthly report features the top 10 cities in North America where hotel rates have dropped the most. When combined with Hotwire's already discounted prices, the Hotel Rate Report helps guide customers to the destinations that will maximize their travel dollars. Tulsa, Oklahoma, Princeton, New Jersey and Omaha, Nebraska make their debut on the list in the top three spots with eleven, nine and seven percent drops, respectively.

Many of the new cities on this month's list, like Tulsa and Princeton, are facing a decline in business and group travel as compared to last year. In addition, new, aggressively priced properties have come on board in these areas causing even more competition in an already competitive environment. As a result, hoteliers are dropping rates to lure back business and leisure customers alike.

Travelers who've never made it to our top cities this month may not know that both Tulsa and Princeton offer travelers much more than great hotel deals. Tulsa is considered the cultural and arts center of Oklahoma and houses two world-renowned art museums, full-time professional opera and ballet companies, plus one of the nation's largest concentrations of art deco architecture. And our runner-up, Princeton is not only home to one of our nation's top universities, but it is also one of our country's most picturesque towns. Not to mention that it's also equidistant between New York and Philadelphia, so it makes it a good jumping off point for visitors to these areas.

When compared to the same time last year, the top 10 hotel price reductions for July 2010 include:

"Although hotels in some larger, more popular markets have begun to stabilize as compared to last year, there are still plenty of great getaway destinations where hotel prices continue to fall," said Clem Bason, President of the Hotwire Group. "With a little flexibility, travelers can discover a new city and still have the vacation experience their looking for without having to pay top dollar."
