Iberia Included Again in a Dow Jones Index
The Spanish Airline earned maximum points for environmental protection
Iberia has been selected, for the fourth consecutive year, for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), a listing of the companies rated highest for ethical business, environmental protection, and corporate social responsibility practices. Amongst the world’s airlines, only Iberia, Air France-KLM, and Lufthansa are listed in the prestigious index.
Iberia earned maximum points for environmental protection, and was rated above average in business and social policies. In the 20 judging categories of the three areas, Iberia ranked highest in "risk and crisis management", "codes of conduct", "efficiency", "age of fleet", "local air quality", "ecological efficiency of operations", "route network", "standards with suppliers", and "commitment to stakeholders".
Iberia's corporate social responsibility policies also won recognition for the first time by other indexes:
ETHIBEL Sustainability Index / Excellence Europe, evaluating public information via 37 criteria in six areas: human rights, environment, personal development, market performance, corporate governance, and commitment to the community.
KEMPEN SNS - SRI Universe, analysing medium and low-cap European firms in three areas: business ethics, environmental performance, and social practices.
For the second year running Iberia has been included in the FTSE4Good IBEX, created by Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) and the company supplying indexes to the FTSE Group, in response to the growing interest in socially responsible investment in Spain.
Iberia's listing in these indexes shows that the company has become a worldwide model for investors who identify it as one of the world’s most responsible businesses.
