Czech Airlines will cease to operate the Prague – New York route with its own aircraft for the coming winter
The new 2009/2010 Czech Airlines winter flight schedule will see a change in the days of the week of the scheduled Prague – New York (JFK) flights. Direct flights will depart from Prague every day except Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:30 CET and will be operated exclusively by Czech Airlines SkyTeam Alliance partner, Delta Air Lines. The return flights will depart from New York every day except for Wednesdays and Fridays at 17:05 local time. Czech Airlines will continue to serve this route in the form of code-share cooperation with Delta Air Lines. The winter flight schedule will apply from October 25, 2009 through to March 28, 2010.
Czech Airlines will cease to operate the Prague – New York (JFK) route with its own aircraft at the end of the summer flight schedule. The last flight operated by its planes on this route will take place on Friday 23 October 2009. The Czech Airlines airplane will return to Prague the following morning, on Saturday 24 October 2009.
Service on the scheduled seasonal Prague – Toronto route will be discontinued in line with the current summer time schedule, as of October 13, 2009. The last flight on the OK 102 route from Prague to Toronto will take place on 13 October 2009, with the airplane returning to Prague the next day.
The reorganisation of Czech Airlines’ operations to North America is one of the measures being taken to accelerate the 2009 Action Plan. At the same time, code-share cooperation with Delta Air Lines is being enhanced. “The current situation in aviation and our internal analyses have clearly shown that it is more advantageous for Czech Airlines to provide service to those destinations by taking advantage of synergies with alliance partners,” says Petr PištÄ›lák, Vice President for Marketing and Product Development, in explaining the rationale for the changes, adding: “We will have more strength for medium- and short-haul routes in Europe, primarily in its eastern part, on which we can better concentrate.“
Passengers who have already booked tickets to New York for a flight operated by Czech Airlines, with a departure date after 23 October 2009, can change their booking free of charge, to an earlier flight with Czech Airlines to the same destination, or to any Czech Airlines code-share flight operated between Prague and New York J. F. Kennedy Airport, operated by Delta Air Lines. If a passenger has a valid ticket issued for a cancelled Czech Airlines flight departing after 23 October 2009, he can ask for a refund. Czech Airlines will reimburse such passengers for the full price of the ticket.
