More Time to Shop and Relax Prior to Boarding
New check-in procedures for SWISS Economy at Zurich Airport
Effective July 31, 2009, SWISS Economy passengers will be directed to use self-check-in machines at Zurich Airport’s Check-In 1 in an effort to assist passengers with a smoother and more relaxing check-in process. Passengers will be able to swiftly check-in, receive their boarding passes and baggage tags, with time left over to shop and relax prior to boarding.
For those passengers needing special assistance, the special assistance desk, which is located in the middle of the Check-In 1 concourse opposite the large departures board will continue to take care of passenger needs.
Many passengers are already utilizing self-check-in machines and have provided SWISS with positive feedback. Specifics about this new check-in procedure are below.
Information about the new Check-In 1 arrangements:
♦ All check-in for SWISS Economy (i.e. the south wing) of Check-In 1 will be self-check-in machines.
♦ There are currently 20 self-check-in machines with more to be added in the next few months.
♦ SWISS Economy passengers will be asked to check-in using selfcheck-in machines and print their boarding passes as well as any necessary baggage tags as required.
♦ Assistance will be on hand to help passengers with the self checkin process if needed.
♦ Once checked in, passengers will proceed as usual to their departure gate (if they only have carry-on baggage), or will be directed to the bag drop-off point if they have registered baggage.
♦ Should it exceptionally prove impossible to check-in at a selfcheck-in machine, nearby staffed help desks are available.
♦ Unaccompanied minors (UMs), passengers requiring wheelchairs (PRMs) and other travelers needing special assistance can continue to report directly to Desk 125, the special assistance desk, which is located in the middle of the Check-In 1 concourse opposite the large departures board.
♦ There will be no changes to the Zurich check-in concourse or arrangements for SWISS First or SWISS Business passengers (including Star Gold members, Senators and HON Circle members).
