HFTP Presents Leadership and Career Insight to University of Houston Hospitality Students
Offering insight into developing a career and being a leader in the hospitality industry, Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), and Emily Wolfe, a freelance paralegal, spoke last week at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management Leadership Series.
The leadership series is designed to bring local, national and international executives to the Hilton College to speak and expose the students to both the thoughts and advice of leaders in different sectors of the hospitality industry. Preceding the class was a luncheon with some of the student leaders where they had the opportunity to ask questions in a one-on-one environment.
Along with updating the students on HFTP projects, Frank and Emily Wolfe discussed the proliferation of social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. They covered several do's and don'ts of social networking, and addressed how using these sites can impact prospective employment and company intellectual property rights.
"It was a real honor to have Frank and Emily Wolfe speak at the Dean's Leadership Series," said Justin Smith, graduate student at the Hilton College. "As a member of the Hilton College chapter of HFTP, I was excited to hear about some topics in store for the HITEC conference this summer, as well as Frank Wolfe's work with GUESTROOM 20X. He also spoke candidly about how we, as students, should reevaluate our use of social networking from the eyes of a future employer. It's great to see that the Hilton College has such a great relationship with HFTP because our students really benefit from opportunities like the Wolfes' visit to campus."
"The opportunity to meet Frank and Emily Wolfe during the Dean's Leadership Series was a pleasure. Emily Wolfe provided helpful insight on the process of developing a trademark to protect my future brands. In the lecture, I also learned how to successfully use social networking sites to promote a business in a professional manner," said Robert Cavaliere, a junior at the Hilton College.
