TAP Will Operate At Heathrow Terminal 1 From the Summer

All Star Alliance companies move under one roof in the central area of the biggest U.K. airport

TAP is one of the Star Alliance companies that together with Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS will already be transferring to the renovated Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport in London from this summer. This move is part of the Star Alliance "Move under one Roof" project that aims to offer Alliance passengers greater convenience and more options by using common spaces at major airports.

With more space now available at Terminal 1 at Heathrow, Star Alliance is preparing to implement another phase of its "Move under one Roof" strategy. Passengers flying with these five companies that will begin operating at Terminal 1 will be able to rely on a very substantial improvement in their travel experience when compared with Terminal 2.

The renovated common area of the Star Alliance check-in will now receive passengers from Portuguese TAP, Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa and LOT Polish Airlines (already located in Terminal 1). After completing their check-in passengers gain access to the dedicated control posts behind this area in addition to fast x-ray lanes for Premium Customers.

Passengers who fly with Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, bmi, South African Airways, SWISS, United and US Airways will also benefit from the improvements offered at Terminal 1 with check-in and ticket issuing desks also located within the redesigned main area.

Within the scope of the improved lounge facilities currently installed in Terminal 1, bmi will offer its customers a new lounge in June once it transfers its international lounge to an area closer to its main boarding gates. With a Star Alliance lounge for First and Business Class passengers and two bmi loungers - one for passengers on domestic flights and another for those on international flights - Heathrow airport now offers Alliance customers a choice of a range of unparalleled lounges in Terminal 1.

When the next phase of the move is completed the 21* Star Alliance members companies that operate at Heathrow will be practically equally distributed throughout Terminals 1 and 3, making Star Alliance the largest alliance to operate from the central zone at Heathrow. This central area is the only one at Heathrow airport with direct access to the entire network of existing modes of public transport: the Heathrow Express and London Connect Service and all metropolitan services to the center of London as well as all other local and regional coach services.

In all, 21* Star Alliance member companies currently serve Heathrow, offering 187 daily flights to 73 destinations in 23 countries.

* 19 Star Alliance member companies and 2 regional ones (Blue1 & Croatia Airlines).
