April Traffic Takes a (5.2%) Hit

The loss of European international passenger traffic today will be in the region of 1.1 million at the departure level
The European Hit in April is (13.1%); So Far
Only a quarter of the European results for April are presently to hand, but the pattern is clear. Passenger numbers are down by over (13%).
The initial policy of zero risk has transformed the April trading period into a commercial disaster. If the Turkish airports are extracted the picture is even worse with a (19%) decline registered.
The effect on world traffic is exaggerated slightly by the preponderance of European results at this point in the month.
In happy contrast, Asia/Pacific is showing a 12.4% positive.
 
 
 
US Airlines in Perfect Initiation of the See-Saw; Down (0.8%) in April
  - last month up a fraction, this month down by the same fraction
 
European Airlines in April; Look Away Now
  - with the effect that RPK's fell by (9.9%) overall and by (14.4%) on intra-European flights
