US Carriers Have Encouraging Prognoses

June-August peak flying season in experts' expectations

According to the reports of The Wall Street Journal, U.S. airlines are expected to carry 206.2 million passengers in the June-August peak flying season. This number is comparable to summer of 2011, according to a trade group for the leading carriers.

The forecast by Airlines for America is 5% below the peak reached in the summer of 2007, said John Heimlich, the group's chief economist, when 217.6 million fliers boarded U.S. airlines. The number of passengers flying internationally on U.S. carriers this summer is expected to reach 26.8 million, surpassing last summer's record of 26.3 million, according to the group.
