Hartsfield-Jackson Earns Best U.S. Airport Concessions Honors
Airport Scores Hat Trick on Major National Awards
It's official: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has the best airport concessions program in the country.
On March 2, Airport Revenue News (ARN) announced the 2011 winners of its prestigious Best Airport & Concessionaire Awards at its annual Revenue Conference & Exhibition, held in National Harbor, Md. Hartsfield-Jackson received the award for Best Overall Concessions Program for 2011.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have our Concessions program recognized as the best in the country," said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. "Providing our customers with a variety of innovative retail, food and service options is what makes our program world-class."
But wait; there's more! Hartsfield-Jackson also earned the Best Concessions Program Design award in the large airport category for the second straight year and received the 2011 Best Concessions Customer Service award.
"We have teamed with the concessionaires to improve and enhance customer service throughout the Airport," Miller said. "This award is truly a team award for all our partners and recognizes that our efforts are paying off for our passengers."
In the last two years, Hartsfield-Jackson has introduced several national upscale retailers, including Sean John, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers and Ermenegildo Zegna. Several technology stores also recently opened, such as Techshowcase and BlackBerry from Wireless Giant (the first in any airport).
In 2009, the Airport's Concessions unit received the Airports Council International-North America awards for Concessions Person of the Year (Concessions director) and Best Convenience Retail Program in the large airport category. The program also received the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2008 Best in Real Estate: Deal of the Year award and the 2009 Airport Revenue News Best Concessions Management Team award.
