UNWTO to Present Portfolio of Technical Assistance at FITUR

The wide range of products and services which constitute the UNWTO technical assistance portfolio will be officially presented at the international tourism trade fair, FITUR 2011 (Madrid, Spain, 20 January).

The presentation of the UNWTO Technical Product Portfolio offers a unique opportunity for UNWTO Member States, regional and international organizations, destination management organizations (DMOs) and others to familiarize themselves with what UNWTO provides by way of its technical assistance in building up a sustainable and highly competitive tourism sector.

The presentation will detail UNWTO’s technical assistance, which includes supporting countries and destinations in the formulation of tourism policy, providing training in tourism management, the strategic positioning of a country as a tourism destination and product development. UNWTO also works with its Members in the collection and analysis of tourism-related statistics and improving the overall quality of products and services within the tourism sector.

The technical cooperation programme is the operational arm of UNWTO, translating the Organization’s technical expertise and knowledge of best practices from around the world into practical application in the field. In addition to introducing participants to the many technical products and services which can be provided to Members, the presentation of the UNWTO Technical Product Portfolio will also explain how to obtain this assistance and provide more information on the project implementation process.
