Old Chicago Brings New Flavors to Summer with Limited-Time-Offer Pizzini Pockets

Three-course Pizzini Deal offers great value at competitive price
Old Chicago – a division of Rock Bottom Restaurants, Inc. and the pizza and beer authority known for its “World Beer Tour” and 110 unique, cold beers – just launched its latest limited-time-offer: Pizzini Pockets that feature Old Chicago’s authentic pizza dough recipe and six distinct flavor combinations.  The Pizzini Pockets will be available through Sunday, Aug. 15 and can be served a la carte or as part of the Pizzini Deal, a three-course meal that includes a side salad or soup, as well as an individual-sized dessert, all value-priced starting at $9.99.

The Pizzini Pocket is a unique blend of different ingredients wrapped and baked inside Old Chicago’s signature pizza dough, a recipe Old Chicago has been following for 30+ years.  Old Chicago offered Pizzini Pockets for a limited time in summer 2009, and they were extremely well received by guests as a great-tasting, lighter meal option.  In addition to last year’s popular flavors – the Sausage & Meatball Pizzini Pocket and the Chicken Florentine Pizzini Pocket – Old Chicago is introducing four new combinations this summer that are sure to become instant favorites:

  • Spinach & Feta:  Baby spinach, red onions, feta crumbles, mushrooms, green chilies, roasted garlic, diced tomatoes, oregano spice and melted Mozzarella, Parmesan and Romano cheeses.  Baked and topped with marinated tomatoes and feta cheese crumbles.

  • Hot Sicilian:  A blend of pepperoni, salami, smoked ham and Mozzarella cheese wrapped and baked to a golden brown, and topped with pepperoncinis and green onions.

  • BBQ Chicken & Bacon:  All-white chicken breast tossed in honey chipotle BBQ sauce, smokehouse bacon and red onions baked up with melted Cheddar and Mozzarella cheeses, and topped with a tangy pickle onion relish.

  • Grilled Steak & Mushroom: Grilled steak strips, sliced mushrooms, red bell peppers, red onions with fresh basil and Mozzarella, Parmesan and Ricotta Cheeses.  All wrapped and baked up to a golden brown and topped with a zesty red pepper relish.

The three-course Pizzini Deal includes a side salad, like Old Chicago’s new Spinach & Mushroom Side Salad, or soup of the day, followed by one of the six tasty Pizzini Pocket options served with Seasoned Pasta Chips.  Guests also have their choice of an individual-sized dessert as part of the Deal – an Individual Brownie topped with Black Forest, Heath® Bar Crunch or Marshmallow Fudge or the new Mini Cherry Cobbler, slow-baked and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

“We know our guests are looking for great-tasting deals this summer,” said Mike Thom, Old Chicago’s director of culinary research and development. “Last year’s Pizzini Pockets were so popular with guests, and the four new flavors and Pizzini Deal will give them a lighter option made with our classic pizza dough just in time for summer – and at a great price everyone can appreciate.”

In addition to the limited-time-offer Pizzini Pockets, guests can quench their thirst with new summer beverages, including four different margaritas, four mojitos and alcohol-free creations that include one free refill like the Berry Good Lemonade, the Ginger Pomegranate Sparkler and the Pink Hawaiian.
