Mount Washington Hotel/Condo Project Clears Another Hurdle
One Grandview, the proposed $90 million hotel/condominium project on Mt. Washington, cleared another hurdle today with the approval of its final design plan by the Pittsburgh City Planning Commission.

Washington's residents, the Mayor's office, Pittsburgh City Council and the various city agencies with whom we've dealt," said Steve Beemsterboer, President of Sycamore Grandview Development Company. "Today's action clears the way for us to actively pursue financing for the project."
Pittsburgh City Council approved the necessary zoning change for the project last February and today's action by the Planning Commission represents the final hurdle for the project to move forward.
With approval, construction could begin next spring. Demolition of the former Edge Restaurant, the key property on the site, is expected by fall and the demolition of four additional vacant properties should be underway shortly.
The project calls for the construction of a 20-story tower at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and Wyoming Street and will include a 163-room luxury hotel and 58 condominiums. Two restaurants are planned, as well as a spa/fitness center, meeting rooms and a grand public terrace overlooking the Monongahela River and downtown Pittsburgh. A 472-car parking garage will also be built.
One Grandview is Sycamore Grandview Development Company's first Pittsburgh project. Company president and chief executive officer Steve Beemsterboer has indicated that the company is looking at additional development opportunities in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
