Donate One Dollar to Feed Seven Kids
United customers will have the opportunity to join the fight against childhood hunger
Starting this month, United customers will have the opportunity to join the fight against childhood hunger. With each purchase of a new Eat for Good snackbox, $1 will go toward Feeding America’s programs to help ensure no U.S. child and their families go hungry.
“Our new Eat for Good snackboxes give United customers the opportunity to support a cause we all believe in, and that is fighting childhood hunger,” said Sonya Jackson, president – United Airlines Foundation. “Hunger in the U.S. is a significant issue, and by purchasing one of our new snackboxes, United customers can join forces with Feeding America and help provide seven nourishing meals for children.”
The newly designed Eat for Good snackbox is available on flights of two hours or longer in March. Priced at only $7, it contains an assortment of foods, including Immaculate Baking Co. cookies, Kettle Classic potato chips, Bumblebee chicken salad, Pepperidge Farm crackers, Snack Treasures trail mix, and Vitalit drink mix.
"Feeding America is extremely delighted to partner with United in providing a unique and convenient opportunity for its passengers to contribute to our mission to eradicate hunger across our nation,” said Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of Feeding America. “During this time of escalating hunger, as evidenced by our recent Hunger 2010 study, Feeding America looks forward to making soaring progress toward our mission.”
The Eat for Good snackbox can be identified by its bright, outside design created by Chicago high school student artist Melissa Don, who is a participant in the After School Matters program—one of the nation’s largest teen initiatives focused on meaningful out-of-school activities for youth. Her design envisions “a bountiful harvest,” which is her creative expression of what it means to fight hunger.
This is the first in a series of new snackboxes that uses United’s resources to connect customers with trusted community partners. To learn more about Feeding America or to donate, please visit www.feedingamerica.org/united.
