A Milkshake That Matters: McDonalds® Shamrock Shake to Benefit Ronald McDonald Houses
Local McDonalds owners are donating a percentage of sales of their iconic Shamrock Shake to the Ronald McDonald House Charities
With St. Patricks Day just around the corner, local McDonalds owners are donating a percentage of sales of their iconic Shamrock Shake to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bay Area. The funds have been earmarked to support The Charities core Bay Area programs, the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco and the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. The money donated from McDonalds owners will help us provide comfort and care for even more families Now through April 1, McDonalds owners throughout the Greater Bay Area will give 25 cents of every shake sold to the Houses. Funds raised through purchases of this seasonal treat will help support the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco and the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.
The Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, said Nicholas Vergis, McDonalds owner in Berkeley, Calif. If we can ease their burdens and help make their lives just a little more comfortable, then weve accomplished our goal.
Long-standing supporters of programs that enhance the health and well-being of children, local owners are providing significant financial backing for the Ronald McDonald Houses. As the need for services continues to expand, McDonald's franchisees are stepping up to ensure the Houses can accommodate more families of seriously ill or injured children.
The money donated from McDonalds owners will help us provide comfort and care for even more families, said Lois Moore, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco. With all of the advances in medicine, illnesses once considered terminal are now treatable. Treatments may last a day, a month, or even years. It's a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family, but the Houses offer families a way to stay together.
In the Bay Area, the Ronald McDonald House in San Francisco and the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford currently serve more than 650 families annually.
