Kids Still Have Time to Win a Trip to Rome

Alitalia believes that international travel is an exciting learning experience for everyone, but especially for young people. In the spirit of discovery and learning, Alitalia has launched the ALITALIA YOUNG TRAVEL WRITERS CONTEST.

The contest encourages young people between the ages of 8 and 14 to record their travel experiences in essay form for a chance to win a trip to Rome, Italy. To be eligible, they must travel on an Alitalia or Air One operated transatlantic flight originating in the U.S. between the dates of June 24, 2009 and September 9, 2009. Eligible travelers will have until September 15, 2009 to submit their essays to Alitalia for consideration.

Essays will be reviewed by an internal Alitalia committee and judged based on adherence to guidelines, insightfulness, clarity and grammar.

GRAND PRIZE: A TRIP TO ITALY!
On October 30, 2009, ten travel essays will be selected for publication on Alitalia.com. The writers will be awarded Alitalia branded gift items, including sweatshirts, caps, tote bags and a $100 voucher towards future travel on Alitalia.

One essay will be judged to capture the spirit of international travel best.

The writer and his or her two legal guardians will be awarded a trip to Rome, Italy, courtesy of Alitalia Vacations.

GUIDELINES
Essay must be 750 words or less and touch upon the following topics (examples of subject matter listed below topic).

REASON FOR TRAVEL
- Did you take a family vacation or visit relatives?

AIR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
- Which U.S. airport did you leave from and what was the flight number?
- What kind of plane was it?
- What did you like about flying on Alitalia?

DESTINATION DESCRIPTION AND EXPERIENCE
- Where did you go?
- What was the landscape like?
- What was the food like?
- What did you do there?

RECOMMENDED PLACES
- What specific places would you recommend to other travelers and why?

FAVORITE EXPERIENCE ON THE TRIP
- Did you visit a famous monument?
- Did you make new friends?

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM THE TRIP
- What did you learn through your travel experience?
