Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites Joins Clean the World in an Innovative Program to Recycle Soap
Going green is nothing new for the team at the Sheraton Indianapolis. But when Matthew Holland, director of housekeeping, heard about a new soap-recycling program, he knew that they would have to join in.
"This program doesn't just protect the environment, it also saves lives," said Matt. The Sheraton team has joined the Clean the World Hospitality Recycling Partner program in an effort to enhance their sustainability efforts.
The 560-room hotel expects to send 10,000 pounds of soap and other hygiene products for recycling this year. The soap and bottled amenities are shipped to the Clean the World Recycling Operations Center in Orlando where it will be sanitized and packed for delivery to impoverished people around the world.
Clean the World is providing free soap to people in desperate need for proper hygiene. The problem is devastating worldwide. For example, in Haiti alone, 8,000 children die annually from diarrheal disease, which is preventable by up to 62% with proper hand washing.
By participating in this program, the Sheraton Indianapolis is showing a commitment to saving lives and protecting the environment.
About Clean the World, Inc.
An Orlando-based charitable organization, Clean the World, Inc. is committed to the prevention of illness and death caused by acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease in countries across the globe.
