Cheap Montenegro Airlines Flights (YM)
Overview
Montenegro Airlines is the flag carrier of Montenegro. The company operates cheap flights and charter operations, as well as for carriage of cargo and mail.
The airline was established on October 24, 1994 by the government of Montenegro. On May 7, 1997 was completed the first flight of the company bearing its logo with a Fokker 28 Mk4000, the airline’s first aircraft purchased a year ago and known as Lovcen. It landed in Bari, Italy at 10:30 PM. Montenegro Airlines chose Italy to send its first flight to ensure a great relationship on the future between the two countries.
On October 23, 1999 followed a temporary ban on flights within the European Union. At that time, there was opened a new flight to Frankfurt, Germany. Since, Frankfurt is one of the most important destinations to fly. The same year, routes to Zurich, Ljubljana, Skopje, Istanbul and Budapest were also introduced. Soon, Montenegro Airlines started rapidly to grow. First, becoming a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2000 and then joining Amadeus CRS in 2003. One year later, Montenegro Airlines' pilots were the first in the region to be granted the IIIA certificate.
Besides Germany, Serbia became also an important international market for Montenegrin companies. This was due to the Montenegrin independence referendum. Thus, Montenegro Airlines was forced to cease international flights from Serbia to other countries and lost a profitable Nis-Zurich route.
Montenegro Airlines, as it has been said, is developing in order to grow its fleet and destination network. So the airline is in a continuing completion with a new fleet and as a result, it introduced some of regular and cheap flights like London-Gatwick Airport and Milan-Malpensa International Airport.
On November 10, 2008, Montenegro Airlines completed all procedures for privatization and transformed from a limited liability Company into joint stock Company.
Today, Montenegro Airlines operates scheduled services in Europe, from its primary hub Podgorica Airport (TGD), and the second base at Tivat Airport (TIV). The airline is providing 13 international cheap flights, offering affordable and low-cost prices for its cheap tickets. Some of its main destinations are Zurich, Frankfurt, Rome, Paris, Ljubljana, Vienna, Belgrade, Moscow, Nis and Copenhagen. In addition to scheduled flights, Montenegro Airlines also operates charters to many destinations, including: Bari, Brindisi, Napoli, Athens, Corfu, Rhodes, Skiathos, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Riga, Hurghada, Brno, Ostrava, Graz, Klagenfurt, Dusseldorf, Catania and others. The air company’s fleet consists of eight modern aircraft – five Fokker 100s and three Embraer 195.
