Cheap Iberia Flights (IB)
Overview
Iberia, the flag carrier of Spain, joined oneworld in September 1999, providing oneworld alliance customers with the best and most convenient connections between Europe and Latin America. In February 2006 Iberia moved its Madrid operations into the new, state-of-the-art Madrid-Barajas Terminal 4.
In recent years, Iberia has become one of Europe's most consistently profitable airlines. It achieved net profits of EUR395 million for 2005 - its tenth year running in the black.
Its worldwide network extends to almost 120 destinations in 50 countries, including more than 35 points in Spain and 40 plus elsewhere in Europe. Its main hub is its home base Madrid. Its biggest markets are three domestic routes: Barcelona-Madrid (Europe's first walk-on shuttle service), Palma-Barcelona and Malaga-Madrid.
It was the first European airline to fly to South America and remains the leading carrier between Europe and Latin America, serving some 20 destinations in the region.
With its Iberia Regional / Air Nostrum affiliate, it carried more than 32 million passengers in 2008, operating more than a thousand departures a day.
